What is the Proctology & Pelvic Floor Center

The VM Med Proctology & Pelvic Floor Center provides private assessment and treatment for conditions of the anus, rectum and pelvic floor. These are common problems that many people find difficult to talk about. For our team they are routine, and every visit starts with a private, unhurried consultation.

Our team assesses and treats hemorrhoids, anal fissures, perianal abscesses and anal fistulas, pilonidal cysts and bowel control problems, including fecal incontinence. Many treatments can be done in the clinic during a short visit. Others are performed in state-of-the-art operating rooms located near the Center, with our coordinators organising every step.

Our clinical services:

Anal pain or bleeding? Our doctors will look for the cause and explain your treatment options. We assess and treat:

  • Hemorrhoids (internal, external and thrombosed) — rubber band ligation and hemorrhoidectomy
  • Anal fissure — botulinum toxin injection, sphincterotomy and fissurectomy
  • Perianal abscess and anal fistula — drainage and fistulectomy
  • Fecal incontinence (bowel leakage) — assessment and treatment
  • Difficulty emptying the bowel (anismus or dyssynergia)
  • Pilonidal cyst (pilonidal disease)
  • Colonoscopy — screening, follow-up and investigation of symptoms

We also assess:

  • Anal itching (pruritus ani)
  • Anal warts (condylomas)
  • Narrowing of the anal canal (anal stenosis)
  • Perianal Crohn's disease, assessed here and referred to gastroenterology when needed
A professional physician in a white medical uniform talks to discuss results or symptoms and gives a recommendation to a male patient and signs a medical paper at an appointment visit in the clinic.

What can a patient expect?

You do not need a referral. Book by phone or complete our online inquiry form, and a coordinator will contact you to schedule your consultation.

Before your appointment, you will receive a digital intake form to complete. When you arrive, you will be greeted at reception, and your doctor will take the time to listen to your concerns, review your history and, if needed, examine you. The examination is short and explained to you beforehand. An anuscopy, a quick look inside the anal canal with a small instrument, can be done during the same visit.

You do not need to know the right medical words. Describing what you notice is enough. Many people wait years before mentioning bowel or anal symptoms to anyone, and most of these conditions can be treated.

If you need a procedure, your doctor will explain the options and what recovery involves. Some treatments, such as hemorrhoid banding, are done in the clinic. Procedures that need an operating room are performed in state-of-the-art operating rooms located near the Center, and our coordinator handles scheduling and preparation instructions. On the day of your procedure, you will check in at the operating facility. If follow-up care is needed, our team will reach out by email to schedule your next visit.
