A small percentage of breast lumps turn out to be cancer.  If you notice a lump in your breast or near that region, or if you notice any changes in breast tissue, you should consider booking an appointment. The physician may order breast imaging to determine if this lump is of concern or not.

According to the Canadian Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Canada, women between the ages of 40 and 74 benefit most from regular breast screening.

Results of a breast exam will be ready and shared with you within the same appointment. If additional tests are requested, this can be scheduled on-site along with a follow up if necessary.

An appointment with a VM Med breast specialist includes a consultation and imaging (mammography and/or ultrasound), depending on the demographics of the patient and their clinical history. Further testing (such as biopsies) and imaging (such as MRI) can also be done in the same appointment if deemed appropriate and necessary.
