Dr. John R. Keyserlingk, completed his specialty training in both General Surgery and Otolaryngology at McGill, and a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. He is currently Assistant Professor of Surgery at McGill University and a member of the Department of Surgery at the Université de Montréal. He is a staff surgeon in the Divisions of General surgery, Surgical Oncology and Otolaryngology at St. Mary’s Hospital, the Department of Surgery at the Sacré-Coeur Hospital, the Division of General Surgery at the Montreal General Hospital and previously at the Department of Otolaryngology at the Royal Victoria Hospital. He is a Fellow of a number of societies including the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Head and Neck Surgeons, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Dr. Keyserlingk is the founder and currently the Medical Director of the Ville Marie Medical and Women’s Health Center (VM-Med) which includes the VM-Med Multidisciplinary Breast and Oncology Centers, the VM-Med Integrative Health and Wellness Center and the on-site VM-Med MRI / Radiology, PET-CT & Nuclear Imaging Centers. He is assisted by a team of physicians and radiologists who work with an on-site team of surgical, medical and radiation oncologists, as well as an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, genetic counsellors, kinesiologists and nutritionists. Together their mission is to optimize breast cancer prevention and early detection.
Dr. Keyserlingk also sits on the Board of the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC), which is composed of over 800 Breast Centers across the world, of which the VM-Med Breast Center is the first Canadian NCBC member. He also chairs the NCBC International Committee. He has taken a strong public stand on the rights of patients to have dignified access to the best technology available, and both published and presented on issues regarding breast cancer prevention and early detection.
Morris Browman

Morris Browman is a diagnostic radiologist and Director of Medical Imaging at VM-Med. Dr. Browman received a B.Sc with honours in Neurobiology and an MD, both from McGill University. Dr Browman continued his postgraduate training in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic, in Rochester Mn and completed his residency in radiology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He has several publications and received the Award of Excellence for research by a resident from the Canadian Association of Radiologists in 1994 for his work on carotid ultrasound. He is board-certified in both Canada and the US and is also a member of the Collège des médecins du Québec. After 18 years in a private, hospital-based practice in New York State, where he acquired extensive experience in breast imaging, magnetic resonance, CT, sonography and image-guided biopsy and intervention, Dr. Browman has brought his expertise home to Montreal.
Sylvain Beaulieu

Dr. Beaulieu is a Nuclear Medicine Specialist Board Certified in Québec and in Canada. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology, Radio-Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at the University de Montreal. He practices nuclear medicine at Maisonneuve Rosemont Hospital, with emphasis on PET/CT.
Dr. Beaulieu also completed his fellowship training in PET imaging at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, USA, from 2001 to 2003. There, he had the opportunity to learn from world renowned experts by reading thousands of PET examinations and by performing anatomical correlations with the results of an equal number of radiological examinations, mainly CT scans and MRI examinations. During his training, he was the main investigator in a research project financed by the National Institute of Health concerning the use of a new radioactive molecule to detect prostate cancer through PET imaging. Dr. Beaulieu has an expertise with regard to the various quantification methods used in PET imaging for clinical or research purposes.
Dr. Beaulieu is author co-author of 25 articles and abstracts, mostly about PET/CT imaging. He presented the results of his research at different international nuclear medicine conferences and to several university hospital centers throughout Canada and the US.
Karl Schwarz

Dr. Karl Schwarz is a plastic surgeon and Director of Plastic Surgery at VM-Med. Dr. Schwarz received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology-chemistry from Skidmore College. He went on to complete a Masters in physiology and biophysics at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He graduated from The George Washington University School of Medicine with honors, receiving his M.D. His 6 years of training in plastic surgery were completed at Georgetown University Hospital, one of North America’s most respected training programs. During this time, he published research papers and textbook chapters on breast reconstruction.
In 2007, he joined the plastic surgery faculty at McGill University, where he taught a wide variety of reconstructive procedures to treat accident victims, people with birth deformities, and cancer patients. At VM-Med Dr. Schwarz focuses on onco-plastic procedures, which are both his sub-specialty and his passion. Working with the VM-Med team of general surgeons Dr Schwarz offers our patients rapid access to variety of procedures including immediate reconstruction post-mastectomy as well as microsurgical breast cancer reconstruction (performing DIEP flaps).
Dr Schwarz is a board-certified fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a member of the Collège des médecins du Québec.
Dawn Anderson

Dr. Dawn Anderson gained her MD, research degree (BSc. Med) and completed her Internship at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg then headed west to Vancouver to undertake a Residency in General Surgery at the University of British Columbia.
She subsequently completed 5 years as a locum tenens General Surgeon in various towns across central and northern BC. Finding the idea of further academic study appealing she then came to Montreal for a 2 year fellowship in Surgical Oncology at McGill, and never left!
Dr Anderson is currently an Assistant Professor in the departments of Oncology and Surgery at McGill University, the Head of Surgical Oncology at VM-Med and the Divisional Director of General Surgery and Surgical Oncology at St. Mary’s Hospital. Her oncologic focus is breast, thyroid and colon cancer.
In addition to evaluating and operating on cancer patients she prepares and dictates the weekly review of all cancers seen at the weekly VM-Med Oncology-Pathology Rounds and also participates in the weekly Tumour Conference at St Mary’s Hospital. She is an active collaborator with her colleagues in Medical and Radiation Oncology at McGill University by, among other things, recruiting patients for multicenter research trials in breast and rectal cancer.

Dr Gordon Brabant completed his medical training in General Surgery at McGill University and a year of surgical training at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
After completing his residency training he worked in Toronto for 8 years at Scarborough General Hospital. He then spent 3 years at a Duke University satellite hospital in North Carolina after and 8 years as a surgeon specializing in breast cancer in Warwick, New York, at St. Anthony’s hospital. Dr Brabant joined the VM-Med team in 2004 and continues to commit his practice to the prevention, early detection and care of breast cancer. In addition to his role at VM-Med he is also assistant professor of surgery at McGill University and is a staff surgeon at St Mary’s hospital.
Bassam Abdulkarim

Dr. Abdulkarim is a Radiation Oncologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at McGill University. Dr. Abdulkarim received his MD from the University of Paris XI in France. He is a member of the Radiation Oncology team at the Montreal General Hospital. His clinical focus is on breast cancer and brain tumors. Dr. Abdulkarim is also involved in oncology research, having focused on, among other things breast cancer subtypes and risk of locoregional recurrence.
Boris Bahoric

Dr. Bahoric is a radiation oncologist based at the Jewish General Hospital’s Division of Radiation Oncology in Montreal. Dr. Bahoric completed his residency training at the University of Toronto and joined the Jewish General Hospital in 2001. He is an active participant in the weekly VM-Med Oncology-Pathology Conferences whereby he helps establish the optimal course of treatment of VM-Med cancer patients. In addition to his work at the Jewish General Hospital and VM-Med Dr. Bahoric has also been published in many well regarded journals and is a regular speaker at international medical conferences.
Karina Bukhanov

Dr. Bukhanov is a breast radiologist and Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Imaging, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto where she has been Head of Breast Imaging for many years. She has extensive experience in digital mammography – which she introduced into Canada – as well as breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and the interventional procedures associated with each modality. She also has multiple publications on the subject of digital mammography.
Dr. Bukhanov is passionate about patient care and was instrumental in setting up the Emanuelle Gattuso Rapid Diagnosis Clinic at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Bukhanov is also a member of the Quebec College of Physicians and a radiology consultant at the VM-Med MRI Center.

Christian Cohade

Dr. Christian Cohade is a Nuclear Medicine Specialist Board Certified in Québec, in Canada and in the United States. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology, Radio-Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at the Université de Montréal. He practices nuclear medicine at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) and Maisonneuve-Rosemont hospital, with emphasis on PET/CT.
Dr. Cohade completed a 2 year fellowship in PET/CT imaging at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, under the direction of Dr. Richard L. Wahl, from 2001 to 2003. He performed his fellowship and his research work with the first commercial PET/CT scanner installed in North America, in 2001, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Cohade is author and co-author of 36 articles and 57 abstracts that were published, mostly about PET and PET/CT. He presented the results of his research at international nuclear medicine and radiology conferences (Society of Nuclear Medicine, Radiological Society of North America). He serves as an Editorial Board Member of the “Journal of Nuclear Medicine”, the leading journal in that field.
Dr. Cohade’s expertise encompasses the clinical evaluation of the oncologic applications of PET and PET/CT, and of PET/CT artifacts.
Lorraine Dontigny

Lorraine Dontigny, MD, FRCS(C) is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist on staff at VM-Med. Dr. Dontigny completed her medical training and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at l’Université de Montréal. Since 2000, she is part of the obstetrics and gynecology team of LaSalle Hospital. As part of her role on the LaSalle Hospital team, she is responsible for training medical students from various institutions including residents from McGill University’s obstetrics-gynecology program, family medicine residents from l’Université de Montréal, as well students completing their midwife studies. Dr. Dontigny is also assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at both McGill University and l’Université de Montréal.
At VM-Med Dr Dontigny consults patients in general gynecology, with a particular focus on genitourinary syndrome, as if effects postmenopausal women. She has offered MonaLisa Fractional CO2 Laser Therapy – a treatment for patients suffering from genitourinary syndrome – at the clinic since November 2016 with exceptional results. At the clinic, Dr. Dontigny also offers interdisciplinary consultations with Marie-Josée Lord, an internationally renowned physiotherapist and pioneer in the field of pelvic health physiotherapy in Canada.
Reda a. Farag

Dr. Reda A. Farag completed his postgraduate studies at McGill University and obtained his Specialty Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1972. Dr Farag became Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, F.R.C.S. (C) in 1973 and earned American board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1975.
In a career spanning forty years, Dr. Farag has offered clinical services in a variety of fields pertaining to the practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He’s attended and delivered close to 7000 patients including Cesarean operative procedures. Dr Farag has performed thousands of gynecological interventions including major surgeries consisting of mainly vaginal, abdominal and laparoscopic procedures. In addition, Dr. Farag has performed hundreds of microsurgical tubal reconstructions of the fallopian tubes for the improvement of fertility, before the advent of assisted reproductive techniques. Since 2007, he devotes his clinical activities to pre-cancer screening and prevention, focusing mainly on colposcopy and related interventions for diseases of the uterine cervix.
In addition to his clinical activities, Dr Farag has had many administrative duties in the department of OB/GYN at St Mary’s Hospital and ultimately became its Director from 1994 to 1997. He was instrumental in the C.M.E.( Continuing medical education) for two decades, first as coordinator of the undergraduate teaching program, then as organizer of clinical rounds at St-Mary’s Hospital, and finally as a permanent member of the organizing committee. He was recently awarded the title of “best teacher” (2012) at St-Mary’s Hospital by McGill University’s Director of the OB/GYN residency program. He is also a clinical Associate Professor in McGill University.
Dr Farag’s main clinical work is at VM-Med, where he heads the VM-Med Gynecology & Menopause Clinic, and in the department of Gynecology at the St-Mary’s Hospital Centre.

Gail Goldman completed her medical training and residency in internal medicine at McGill University. Although a general internist she has a particular interest in osteoporosis and has managed the VM-Med Osteoporosis Clinic since 2000.

Dr. Hijal is a Radiation Oncologist and a member of the VM-Med Oncology team. Dr. Hijal received his medical training at McGill University where he also completed his Residency in Radiation Oncology.
Following his residency Dr. Hijal pursued his fellowship training at the Institut Curie in Paris, in breast and haematological radiation oncology. Dr. Hijal is Associate Director of the Division of Radiation Oncology of the McGill University Health Centre (MUCH) as well as Assistant Program Director of the Radiation Oncology Residency Program and Faculty Lecturer for the Department of Oncology, at McGill University. He is also active in research with a focus on breast malignancies on the development and evaluation of new breast radiotherapy treatment techniques and technologies.

Ingrid Hyder, M.D., F.R.C.P.(C) is a diagnostic radiologist on staff at VM-Med. At VM-Med Dr Hyder focuses the bulk of her practice on musculoskeletal and women’s imaging. Dr. Hyder completed her pre-medical education at the University of Pennsylvania and received her MD from the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed her residency at the Pennsylvania Hospital of University of Pennsylvania Health System, a world-renowned academic medical center. There she received comprehensive training in all areas of radiology in that hospital’s busy emergency department, inpatient and outpatient facilities. Additionally, Dr. Hyder completed a musculoskeletal fellowship at McGill University. During her fellowship she focused her training on musculoskeletal CT, MRI and ultrasound, spine CT and MRI, as well as MSK procedures, including arthrography (therapeutic, MRI, CT), US- and CT- guided biopsy, joint aspirations, and lavage.
Brian Leyland-Jones

Brian Leyland-Jones is the director of the VM-Med Clinical Research Center. He is a recipient of the the Cheadle Gold Medal in Medicine for research work with Professor Sir William S. Peart and is the Founding Chairman of the Department of Oncology at McGill University where he was also a professor of medicine.
Dr. Leyland-Jones holds a B.Sc. (1st Class Hons) in Biochemistry, a Ph.D. in molecular pharmacology and a medical degree from the University of London. Following house staff training at Hammersmith, Brompton, St. Bartholomew’s and London hospital, he completed both Clinical Pharmacology and Medical Oncology fellowships at Cornell University and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre respectively. He then joined the academic staff at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre and New York Hospitals with a prime interest in the early clinical evaluation of new anti-cancer compounds. In 1983, he moved to the National Cancer Institute to head the Developmental Chemotherapy section.
Dr. Leyland-Jones has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and book contributions, 200 abstracts and 34 patents.His current main research interests include genetic and proteomic biomarkers of prognosis and prediction focused in breast cancer; pharmacogenetics, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics in oncological clinical trials; translation of preclinical models into the clinic, and screening and mechanistic studies of novel targeted and chemotherapeutic anticancer agents.
He is a fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
Robert Loeb

Licensed in six states, Dr. Loeb works with a variety of modalities including Orthopedic Surgeons, Sports Medicine Specialists, Chiropractors, Podiatrists and Neurologists.
Board Certified in Radiology, Dr. Loeb is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and holds a Specialist Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging. Additionally, he is the Medical Director of Longevity – a medical ultrasound screening company, located in Dana Point, California.
Dr. Loeb obtained his education from the University of Toronto Medical School in Toronto, Canada. After completing a Rotating Internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Dr. Loeb returned to the University of Toronto where he completed his residency in Diagnostic Imaging.
Dr. Loeb’s advanced training includes a Fellowship in Body Imaging: CT, MRI and US, at the University of Toronto and a Musculoskeletal Fellowship at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. With a strong interest in the latest technology and advances, accompanied by an emphasis in Sports Medicine, Dr. Loeb’s continuing education of MRI imaging is ongoing at many of the foremost institutions in the United States and in Canada.
Dr. Loeb is a member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiologic Society of North America, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Collège des médecins du Québec.
Thierry M. Muanza

Dr. Muanza is a Radiation Oncologist and Assistant Professor at McGill University. Dr. Muanza completed his medical training at Université de Sherbrooke and his residency at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. He is a member of the Jewish General Hospital’s Radiation Oncology Department where he specializes in, among other things, breast cancer treatment.
Oussama Nachar

Dr. Oussama Nachar is a Nuclear Medicine Specialist with an expertise in PET/CT, certified in Québec by the Collège des médecins du Québec, in Canada by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and in the United States by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM).
Dr. Nachar holds a license to practice medicine in the province of Québec as well as in several American states such as Texas, Virginia, Vermont, and Louisiana.
Dr. Nachar, who is renowned internationally, has acquired a vast experience with regard to the use of PET imaging in oncology, neurology and cardiology, with several thousand cases interpreted in PET and PET/CT. After his fellowship studies, Dr. Nachar occupied a staff position at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and subsequently, at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. He is currently the section head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT at the Ochsner Health System, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is also professor at the Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute, and supervises the training of more than 45 residents and fellows in radiology and cardiology.
Dr. Nachar is a clinician-scientist who has conducted several basic research projects and clinical studies. A large portion of this work deals with breast cancer, more particularly with ways to improve the screening and characterization of the disease. He is one of the pioneers in the field of estrogen receptor imaging of breast cancer, and was thus granted a PhD in radiobiology. Dr. Nachar is author and co-author of several articles regarding PET/CT that have been published in world-renowned medical journals. He has been invited to numerous national and international conferences to present the results of his research, and asked to give presentations and teach classes on several aspects of PET/CT.
Dr. Nachar is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM), the most influential nuclear medicine association in the world.
Naim Otaky

Naim Otaky is a general surgeon on staff at VM-Med. Dr. Otaky completed his medical training at McGill University in Montreal in 1998 where he was the recipient of several academic awards and academic based bursaries. Dr. Otaky joined VM-Med during his residency in 2000 where, over a three year period, he developed his skills in breast imaging and image guided diagnostic procedures. In 2003 he completed his general surgery residency training at McGill University and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In July 2003 he joined the VM-Med group as a full time breast expert surgeon. In addition to his work at VM-Med, Dr. Otaky is a staff surgeon at the McGill University Health Center Lachine Campus and the Jean-Talon Hospital. In addition to being a member of the Royal College of Physicians, Dr. Otaky is also a member of the Collège des médecins du Québec, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Dr. Otaky has been published in several well regarded academic journals and has lectured in international breast conferences in addition to performing live surgery to an international audience of breast experts at The Breast Course in 2008.

Dr. Panet-Raymond is a Radiation Oncologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology’s Division of Radiation Oncology at McGill University. Dr. Panet-Raymond received her MD from the University of Toronto and completed her residency training in Radiation Oncology at McGill University. She also completed a Clinical Research Fellowship in Breast and Central Nervous System Malignancies, at the University of British Columbia. Panet-Raymond’s clinical focus is on breast cancer, neuro-oncology as well as palliative with a focus on brain metastases and radiosurgery
Gerry N. Polyhronopoulos

Dr Gerry N. Polyhronopoulos is a general surgeon on staff at VM-Med. Dr. Polyhronopoulos completed his MD and his specialty training in general surgery, both at McGill University, and received his BSc (Cum Laude) from Boston College.
During his residency he spent an extra year on research pertaining to Experimental Surgery – for which he was awarded best paper (Basic Science) by the Canadian Association of General Surgeons – at McGill University. Dr. Polyhronopoulos is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and is a member of many professional societies including the American College of Surgeons and the Canadian Association of General Surgeons. In addition to his work at VM-Med, Dr. Polyhronopoulos is a staff surgeon at Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe Claire, Quebec.

Dr. Sultanem is a Radiation Oncologist providing consultations at VM-Med. Dr. Sultanem completed his MD at Université de Sherbrooke and his residency at McGill University. He also completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a member of the Jewish General Hospital’s Radiation Oncology Department and is the Director of the MUHC Residency Program. Dr. Sultanem is Assistant Professor at McGill University where he is also Site Director of the Undergraduate Oncology Program.

Dr. Thirlwell is a Medical Oncologist based at the McGill University Health Center’s Montreal General Hospital. He is an active participant in the weekly VM-Med Oncology-Pathology Conferences whereby he helps establish the optimal course of treatment of VM-Med cancer patients. He is a recipient of the Elaine T. & Charles H. Peters Distinguished Scholar in Medical Oncology. In addition to his work at the Montreal General Hospital and VM-Med he is also active in clinical research and is a Principal Investigator of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) and sits on the Advisory Board of several major Pharmceutical Companies.
